Julie Stephenson lives and farms outside Three Rivers in St. Joseph County, alongside her husband Eric.
Originally from Lapeer County, she studied biology at Hillsdale College and — bit by the agriculture bug — began her career with one of the major seed-corn hybridization companies with facilities in the southwestern Lower Peninsula.
In addition to their two children, Josie and Sawyer, the Stephensons raise cash crops and seed corn on Eric’s family’s fifth-generation farm. The newest component to the operation is a roadside farm market Stephenson launched several years ago, selling pumpkins, squash and other consumer-friendly edibles.
An active member of the St. Joseph County Farm Bureau for almost 20 years, Julie’s track record of involvement in the organization includes extensive work in community outreach activities rooted in Promotion & Education.
Outside agriculture, she is an experienced Girl Scout leader and Girls on the Run coach.
